In a concerted effort to keep production of the animatic steady and finish by the end of this year, I'd set myself a deadline to complete scene 18 by July 31st. While I may not have reached that due to various personal reasons, I am very close to doing so.
Edits are being noted and a few outsiders are being gathered to act as the test screener group for the animatic once it is ready for viewing.

Whether it seems to be at a crawling pace or not, I strive onward!
Scene 17 is finally finished. I was stumbled a bit with dialogue and timing but it all ironed itself out, methinks. Scene 18 is currently undergoing a slight bit of on-the-fly editing following an alteration in Kudram's character. Battle choreography is rather difficult, but I'll manage.
I was hoping to get this animatic finished by the end of the year, but we're approaching the middle of the year now and the end still seems rather far away. I'll be persistent though. We'll see how it goes, eh? =D
(I still have no idea how I'm gonna tackle the final...)

Alright guys, I'll be honest. Outcast Hero hasn't seen as much attention as it could have done lately. Scene 16 was completed but there's been somewhat of a gap between that and production on 17, due to a mass effort to finish the epilogue video to Pokemon Rebirth's longest running series, "Ultimatum". Happy to say that this turned out great, but I have yet to get back into the swing of animatic-ing.
Following my much-needed holiday, however, I hope to return to form and start churning out more panels. Wish me luck!

Ouch! The end of the year draws to a close and I realise I haven't made an update to this blog in some months. Granted, most if not all of November was taken up by the writing of my novel for NaNoWriMo. As a result, work on scene 16 hasn't really got back up to full speed yet.
Still trying to finish a small something for my long-running fan site, "Pokemon Rebirth". This was slightly hampered by my external hard drive eating part of it. That'll teach me not to make regular backups.
On the brighter side, the DVD to the impressive "Minushi" was released a week or two ago. Like "Press Start", this is an independent production. Unlike "Press Start", it is fully animated, and all by one man over the space of four years. That in itself makes it worth watching, wouldn't you say?
I have followed Minushi since its online debut and the project played a part in inspiring Outcast Hero purely by the way it was made. I am fortunate to have found myself a co-animator in recent months, but even so, a full length movie is nothing to sniff at. Usually this kind of thing is taken on by teams of people, not just two! But Tyler Gibb's efforts stand as a reminder - if he can do it, so can we!
Another neat idea (and I don't know whether it was intentional) that Tyler had was to show some of Minushi online and keep the rest for the DVD release. I think this works very well - in the case of those interested enough to see the ending (like myself), it'll make them want to buy the DVD. It's better than just having a trailer wherein its rather difficult to get a true picture of whether you'll like a production or not from just a minute or so of footage. I've kept note of the idea for future use with Outcast Hero's release.
In other words, you will get to see some of the movie online for free. The rest you'll have to get the DVD for 8D
With the year drawing to a close, I'd like to say thanks to my brilliant voice team for pitching in and to Bianca for offering to help me out on this behemoth of a project. Let's make 2008 as fruitful as this one was!

With scene 15 completed, I start to ponder on the growing length of this movie. Length in itself isn't that much of a problem if it keeps people's attention. But if it doesn't...I may well need to consider cutting things out. It was something I wanted to avoid, since everything in the movie at present contributes in some way to the plot or character development (even the humour)
On another note, the indie movie "Press Start" finally got its release on DVD last month. If you're a video game fan who likes parody funnies then I thoroughly recommend it. All sorts of games and game-related concepts are giving an airing here. And you'd never find 3 or 4 audio commentaries on a big budget company-made DVD!
